WHY On 27 October 2022, Victoria’s Environment Protection Authority announced that it filed criminal charges against Melbourne Transport and Warehousing (MTAW Group). EPA alleged that the company failed to take general environmental duty and precautionary measures to eliminate or reduce the risk of a leak of dangerous chemicals at its Laverton North site. The charges can attract fines of up to $1.8 million.
